Whales come heart-stoppingly close to Narooma and the peak season is during September to November, however, they're also seen heading north on their migration to warmer waters in June and July.
A variety of species have been seen here in recent years including:
- Humpback whales
- Southern Right whales
- Fin whales
- Brydes whales
- Sei whales
- Blue whales
- Orca whales with their distinctive black and white colouring
